Crack mapping and masonry segmentation
View projectHigh-resolution drone inspection of Tuftal Viaduct in Egg for the Canton of Zürich, including crack mapping and quantification of delamination, spalling and corrosion.

Concrete · Road infrastructure
Tuftal Viaduct is a road bridge in Egg maintained by the Canton of Zürich. The inspection required detailed image acquisition to detect cracks with a crack opening greater than 0.20 mm.
Precise drone flight planning enabled image acquisition at a spatial resolution of 0.30 mm per pixel. Our trained crack detection model identified cracks with openings as small as half a pixel. Other damage types, including corrosion, delamination, and spalling, were also detected and mapped.
The mapped defects and their quantities provided the asset owner with a comprehensive overview of the bridge condition, with observations located in a 3D model.
