Crack mapping and masonry segmentation
View projectImage-based inspection of a reinforced concrete bridge abutment in Zürich, combining drone and handheld photography with damage mapping in PRIMA.

Concrete · Bridge abutment
The Canton of Zürich required damage mapping on both interior and exterior surfaces of the abutment. Different access conditions called for complementary image acquisition methods.
Drone and handheld camera images were combined to reconstruct the structure in 3D. AI-assisted analysis detected, quantified and localised various structural damage types.
Engineers can examine crack patterns on both sides of the abutment within the same spatial reference and distinguish load-induced structural cracking from non-structural surface cracking.
