SwissInspect was founded by a team of engineers and academics from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.

We bring together expertise in structural engineering, computer vision, and robotics. This distinctive combination allows us to deliver an end-to-end image-based inspection solution.

Our journey

From academic research to real-world infrastructure inspection.

2017 – 2021

EPFL Logo

Research origins at EPFL

The foundations of SwissInspect were laid through research in structural engineering and computer vision at EPFL, focusing on image-based damage detection and 3D mapping. During their PhD studies at the EESD Group at EPFL, Dr. Amir Rezaie and Dr. Bryan Pantoja-Rosero conducted research on image-based damage assessment of historical masonry walls and buildings.

2021

Pilot studies

Early field deployments of developed image-based methods on bridges of Kanton Zürich validated the technology under real inspection constraints.

2022

Entrepreneurial support

SwissInspect received entrepreneurial and financial supports from Venture Kick and the Fondation pour l’Innovation et la Technologie (FIT) to bring the research into practice. The Venture Kick convertible loan was fully repaid by 2025.

2022-2023

Intelligent Bridge Inspection Project

SwissInspect developed an AI-assisted, automated image-based inspection solution in collaboration with EPFL and public infrastructure partners, supported by Innosuisse.

Since 2024

Trusted by infrastructure owners

Today, SwissInspect works with public entities and infrastructure owners, providing image-based inspections across diverse types of structures.
